Great little Timer unit and sits in the fuse box which is great as i dislike things which are mounted on the wall when they dont need to be!

Hello, yes this will be fine. The unit is designed for up to 16 amps. Since a water heater is a resistive load the power factor is generally 1.0 meaning you could run up to approx 3.5kW via this unit so 3kW would be fine. Thank you for your enquiry.
